چکیده

Candida auris is an emerging pathogen considered to be critical in the World Health Organization fungal organisms list. The study aims determine mortality and hospital stays attributed (C. auris) compared other species adult patients with candidemia. A retrospective cohort of adults candidemia was examined from seven centres Colombia between 2016 2021. primary outcome 30-day mortality, secondary length stay among survivors. Adjustment confounding variables performed using inverse probability weights exposure propensity score (candidemia by C. auris), survival regression models (Weibull distribution), a counting model (negative binomial distribution). value 244 (47.6%) 512 died within first 30 days. crude 38.1% vs. 51.1% non-auris (CNA). In Weibull model, group lower (adjusted HR: aHR- 0.69, 95% CI: 0.53–0.90). Antifungal treatment also decreased aHR 0.36 (95% CI 0.27–0.47), while presence septic shock on patient progression increased it, 1.73 1.41–2.13). Among who survived, no differences were observed CNA groups, incidence rate ratio 0.92 0.68–1.22). Mortality bloodstream infections appears when adjusted for numerous regarding progression. We identified significant effect surviving patients.

Effectiveness of Disinfectants Against Candida auris and Other Candida Species.

Contaminated surfaces are a suspected source for dissemination of the globally emerging pathogen Candida auris. In laboratory testing, sporicidal and improved hydrogen peroxide disinfectants were highly effective against C. auris, C. glabrata, and C. albicans. The widely used quaternary ammonium disinfectants exhibited relatively poor activity against all of the Candida species. Infect Control ...

Invasive Infections with Multidrug-Resistant Yeast Candida auris, Colombia

Candida auris is an emerging multidrug-resistant fungus that causes a wide range of symptoms. We report finding 17 cases of C. auris infection that were originally misclassified but correctly identified 27.5 days later on average. Patients with a delayed diagnosis of C. auris had a 30-day mortality rate of 35.2%.

Antenatal infections with Candida species

The clinical, pathological, and microbiological features of 18 pregnancies complicated by intrauterine infection with Candida sp. are described. Chorioamnionitis with Candida sp. can be recognised macroscopically at birth. Penetration of the umbilical cord and membranes is associated with an intense fetal inflammatory response. The infection characteristically presents in infants of very low bi...
